Did Mainstream Media REALLY Ignore The Susan Rice Story? A Closer Look Says – Absolutely
Yesterday, it was reported that Susan Rice, a national security advisor and close confidant of former President Obama, had requested that President Trump’s transition team be “unmasked” as it pertained to “incidental” surveillance on the President-elect and the team. Bloomberg covered the story, but only after it was broken by “fake news” journalist Mike Cernovich, who himself had been attacked a week earlier on a CBS’s “60 Minutes” segment on “fake news”:
Cernovich pointed out, as revealed in an article by Circa, that President Obama began loosening the rules regarding “incidental intercepts” starting in 2011 – making it easier for the US Government to spy on individuals who are not the primary target(s) of a surveillance operation.
As his presidency drew to a close, Barack Obama’s top aides routinely reviewed intelligence reports gleaned from the National Security Agency’s incidental intercepts of Americans abroad, taking advantage of rules their boss relaxed starting in 2011 to help the government better fight terrorism, espionage by foreign enemies and hacking threats
And guess who had authorization to unmask individuals who were ‘incidentally’ surveilled? Former CIA Director John Brennan, former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, and Obama’s National Security advisor Susan Rice. Also of note is the claim that New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman has been sitting on the Susan Rice story for at least two days:
Twitter user James Brower (who follows Free Market Shooter on Twitter) noted that CNN didn’t run a story at all about the Susan Rice news:
Fake news @CNN doesn't even have a story about leaker Susan Rice. This proves yet again that they are fake news.#SusanRice pic.twitter.com/LS7GnvJuNf

I was in disbelief – they decided to completely ignore the story on their homepage? Since Brower’s image appeared to be a screencap from a mobile phone, I decided to check out CNN’s homepage via desktop. Lo and behold…
There was no mention of Susan Rice in any article whatsoever on their front page. Brower wasn’t lying – CNN voluntarily chose to completely ignore the story, focusing instead on a nearly week-old story about hypoxia in F/A-18 jets.
I did a little poking around – was CNN alone in ignoring this story? How was the rest of the media world responding? I documented the evidence, taking screenshots of a lot of media websites’ home pages. Starting with NBC and MSNBC, who unsurprisingly both followed the same trail of ignorance as CNN:
Take note – I used the search option in the top right to search the entire page in question for the word “rice” without case sensitivity anywhere on the page. No hits for NBC and MSNBC. So I moved on to ABC:
They also ignored the story last night. But that shouldn’t be a surprise, as Susan Rice’s husband is employed by ABC news as an executive producer. It also shouldn’t be surprising that ABC waited until this morning to run the Rice story, but only so they could run a story of Rice denying her involvement, and completely omit the original scoop itself:
Moving onto CBS – surprise surprise! – they actually ran the story! Strike up the band, we have a winner!
It should be no surprise that the other major news network, Fox News, took the story and ran several articles with it…
…but what about the rest of the mainstream media outlets that aren’t parts of major broadcast networks, like Politico, Reuters, and Jeff Bezos’s blog, The Washington Post?
Yes, I was shocked, but hardly surprised, when I learned that they all chose to omit the story. For posterity’s sake, I also checked in on BuzzFeed, home of click-bait headlines, false stories, and virtually nonexistent retractions, just to see what they would put forward:
Their homepage is littered with stories about Trump, Russia, and alleged spy meetings, but the only instance of “rice” comes up as a part of the word “priced”, in a story about Target selling overpriced water. Predictably, it was written with a click-bait headline, just like it was predictable that BuzzFeed decided to ignore the biggest story regarding the Obama administration possibly ordering spying to be done on President Trump’s transition team in the news cycle.
So, how did some other “fake news” websites respond to this news? Zerohedge and Drudge Report were the two I decided to visit – and they sure were having a good time with it:
Drudge had even more fun with it the next day:
So clearly the “fake news” has been doing the job that the majority of the “real” (read: mainstream) media chose to ignore. But why would they ignore one of the biggest stories of the day, if not the week?
It all comes back to Brower’s focus on CNN. Yesterday evening, CNN’s Don Lemon “explained” why the network chose voluntarily to ignore the story – because according to him, it was all A-OK because of the implication that what Susan Rice did to spy on the Trump transition team was done “legally”:
So let us be very clear about this. There is no evidence whatsoever that the Trump team surveilled or spied on — was spied on illegally. There is no evidence that backs up the president’s original claim.
And on this program tonight, we will not insult your intelligence by pretending otherwise, nor will we aid and abet the people who were trying to misinform you the American people by creating a diversion. We’re not going to do it.
Yes, that is correct – CNN chose to ignore evidence that might prove Trump was right about being spied on all along, and it appears they are using the justification of “legality” to excuse blatantly illegal behavior. Nothing to see here folks, move along.
Is it any wonder why mainstream media is so afraid of “fake news” and the major news stories they are covering that the MSM is choosing to voluntarily ignore? Perhaps they really are worried that their viewers will (finally) see the truth, and realize that they are consistently putting a deliberately misleading product on television and voluntarily choosing not share the “real” news with Americans, solely to continue to parade their failing narrative.
What else could CNN’s act be, if not complete garbage?
